Encounter the warm-hearted locals, savor aromatic spices in traditional cuisine, and witness colorful festivals that celebrate the country’s spirituality and heritage. Nepal weaves together natural splendor, spiritual enlightenment , and cultural immersion for a truly unforgettable journey.

Yoga and Meditation

The Himalayas are the epicenter of spirituality and the birthplace of yoga. Practicing yoga and meditation daily encourages connection between the spiritual and natural realms, establishing a profound synergy between oneself and the land. Amidst the Himalayan vistas, daily yoga classes and moments of meditation provide a foundation for physical, mental and spiritual well being. This fusion of trekking, yoga, and mediation not only helps trekkers to navigate the physical challenges of the journey with greater ease but also offers an opportunity to deepen their spiritual practice and their connection with nature.

The Poon Hill Yoga trek weaves together natural beauty, cultural immersion, breathtaking landscapes and spirituality, culminating in an unforgettable adventure in the Himalayas.

Poon Hill Trek (3210m)

Poon Hill is one of the most popular treks in the famous Annapurna region due to its dramatic landscape and moderate climb making it an accessible trek to many. During this trek you will traverse mountains, jungles, rivers, and valleys and climb to a height of 3,210m/10,530ft. The main attraction of this trek is the view point at Poon Hill which provides a spectacular panoramic view over the Himalayas including Annapurna South, Annapurna I, II, III, and IV, Dhaulagiri, Lamington Himal, Gangapurna, and Manaslu mountain ranges among others. The panoramic views of the Himalayas are truly breathtaking and unlike any other. The mountains are unveiled by the rising sun bouncing off the snow capped peaks creating pink, orange, and gold hues upon the peaks. The surrounding valleys and hills gradually come into view, creating an awe-inspiring panorama. A sight that is sure to leave an impression in one’s mind for many years.

FAQs

Most frequent questions and answers

We will provide you with a detailed packing list upon booking. We generally advise packing warm layers as the trek will be warm during the days but will get progressively colder in the evenings. We recommend moisture wicking base layers, lightweight breathable trekking pants or yoga pants, insulating layers (fleece jumper, down jacket for higher altitudes), waterproof jacket, a hat for sun protection, hat and gloves for warmth. For yoga comfortable warm clothes and warm socks are advisable as evening yoga/meditation can get quite cool in the mountains. Clothes that you can double up on for yoga and hiking are best for packing.

Absolutely! The yoga on our retreats is designed to be accessible for beginners and seasoned yogis alike. In the mornings we gently prepare the body for trekking with asana and pranayama (movement and breathwork). In the evenings we wind down with meditation and reflection practices allowing us to integrate the day. Previous yoga experience is not a prerequisite for the retreat.

While on the retreat we offer Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative styles of yoga. We practice yoga, pranayama and meditation each day offering opportunities to connect deeply with ourselves and the sacred land.

Typically on the trek we wake early at approx 6:45am to practice yoga. Afterwards we eat breakfast before we head off trekking. We trek for approximately 4-7 hours a day and stop for lunch along the way. When we arrive at the guesthouse there is some time to relax and enjoy a hot drink before evening meditation/reflection. Then we enjoy a delicious dinner before winding down for the evening. This schedule differs slightly on travel days. A detailed itinerary will be provided upon registration.

Breakfast and dinner are provided while on the trek along with plentiful snacks. In the cities breakfast is provided. All dietary requirements can be catered for. While on the trek there is an abundance of fresh Nepali cuisine. Western dishes can also be found at the guesthouses for those who prefer those options.

We recommend having a good general level of fitness. Every person is different and their trining needs will be different. In general we recommend hiking 1 or 2 trails a month for the 6 months prior to the retreat. The trek in the Himalayas is categorized as a moderate trek. Poon Hill is definitely a challenge but we trek slowly and take many  breaks along the way. We have a team of brilliant guides who support and continually encourage the group.

In both cities Kathmandu and Pokhara where we stay before and after the trek there is an option for either a shared or private room depending on the package you choose. While staying in the guesthouses on the trek all accomodation is shared.

When we arrive in Pokhara on day 02 there is an afternoon free for people to explore the beautiful lakeside city and buy any extra trekking equipment they may need. Depending on the time who arrive in Kathmandu on Day 01 you  may also have time to explore. Often people choose to arrive a day or two early to rest and explore Kathmandu. While on the trail the group has time to relax after dinner however the schedule is pretty full between yoga and hiking daily.

No equipment is required for Yoga. We provide yoga mats for everyone.

A basic level of fitness is required for the Himalayas yoga retreat. The minimum age to attend these retreats is 20 years.

To secure a spot on the retreats we require a non-refundable deposit of €250. If you cancel your booking within 6 weeks of the Himalayas retreat the fee is non-refundable.

It is customary and expected to tip the guides and porters at the end of each trek. While visiting temples we advise people to dress modestly covering shoulders and knees. We  also expect all of our guests to be treated and treat everyone else with kindness and respect. On retreats in Nepal we are all guests in this beautiful country and we should be mindful of this, treating the land and the people with the utmost respect.
